DIRECTOR OF FLAG FOOTBALL – MONTCLAIR
My favorite sports memory/moment/event is…. in 1989 when the Dallas Cowboys were 1-15 under 1st year head coach Jimmy Johnson. Why was that my favorite? Coach Johnson stuck to what he believed in, no matter the record and brought life back into Dallas by creating a dynasty in the 90’s with capturing 2 of the 3 Super Bowls. He brought the love, attitude and respect back to America’s team!
Born and raised in Montclair, New Jersey, Manj Singh has built an impressive coaching career rooted in his passion for youth development. He played both baseball and football growing up, and since 2002, he has been coaching youth football, focusing on nurturing young talent as a feeder program for high schools.
Coach Manj is known for pushing players to exceed their own expectations, helping them achieve what they may not have believed possible. He began coaching in Montclair’s travel programs, moved to Bloomfield’s youth teams, and continued his career at Don Bosco Preparatory, where he served as the freshman and JV coach and assisted with the Varsity team. He later joined Saint Joseph’s Varsity team as the Defensive Line coach and led the JV team.
As head coach at Glen Ridge, he transformed the program within two years, expanding the roster from 19 to 38 players and achieving the team’s first regional invitational championship and playoff win in over four decades. Currently, he serves as the head football coach at Verona High School.
Beyond traditional football, Coach Manj launched a flag football league five years ago, which quickly gained traction. His dedication extends to coaching both boys’ and girls’ flag football, as well as a career in real estate. With heart and passion for everything he takes on, Coach Manj continues to make an impact both on and off the field.
