Laura Brand Sias

DIRECTOR OF CLC ELITE & GIRLS LACROSSE at GILLETTE

My favorite Sports memory/moment/event is…. the overtime victories or upsets of top 5 opponents, but my favorite moments always stemmed from the strides my players took after graduation. My proudest moments came knowing the values and ethics they learned while part of my program were an integral part of their success.

A 1999 Rutgers University graduate, she mentored 39 all-conference and 37 IWLCA All-Region selections.  As the head coach of Rutgers for 17 years, Coach Sias’ victories total is the most for a head coach in the program’s history. She guided the Scarlet Knights to five conference tournament appearances.  Brand was honored as the Big East Coach of the Year in 2002. Sias served on the IWLCA executive board, chaired the National IWLCA All American Committee, and was a Tewaaraton committee member. Prior to Rutgers, Sias was the Head Coach at Fairfield University 2001-2002.

Sias was a four-year letterwinner at midfield and helped Rutgers to its first national ranking and NCAA Tournament appearance in 1999. She competed with the Canadian National Lacrosse Team from 1999-2004 and started for the 2001 squad that placed fourth at the World Cup.

Coach Sias is married with 3 children: Kinley, Tobin and Karter.
