My favorite sports event/memory/moment is…being called up to play Championship Division in the T&TFHA for my Club team at the young age of 16. What an experience that was to play, which is what laid the foundation for me to become a successful athlete and technical ambassador for the Sport.
Coach Mort played all formats (Indoor/Outdoor) of Field Hockey for over 35 years. He played at the High School /Club & International level. He has coached all formats of the game at all levels. Beginner/Intermediate/HS/ College/ International level.
Coaching over 30 years he had the pleasure of developing male and female athletes that represented their respective countries at some of the highest levels of competition. Coach Mort coached USA Club level with Edge FH Club U14/U16/U19. He participated successfully in all USAFH sanctioned Club Championships and Events where a great number of athletes were able to secure college commitments. Coach Mort started VIP FH Academy 15 years ago to introduce and develop young enthusiastic athletes to the sport and also cover Elite Specialized training.
Coach Mort has been involved with USFHA/USOC Field hockey programs since 1989, working as a head coach & site director. Also, coaching at the Regional/ State and National level in the Olympic programs and selector in the USFHA program for age group U14/U16/U19. He coached National Championship teams at age groups U14/U16/U19 successfully in the USFHA Futures & Olympic programs. He is Level 2 certified to coach in the USFHA/USOC programs. Coach Mort is certified and has an A rating for officiating field hockey at all levels. He continues to develop Technical Officials to adjudicate at all levels of FIH/ Pan Am /USA FH Tournaments.
