My favorite sports memory/moment/event is… Playing basketball gave me several unique opportunities to see the world and visit amazing places. Playing games in Russia in high school and in the Czech Republic as a college athlete exposed me to new cultures and made me appreciate sports bringing people together.
Joel Lord has an undergraduate degree in Intercultural Studies from Houghton College as well as a Masters in Sports Management from SUNY Cortland. His love for athletics started from an early age, as his father was a Collegiate basketball coach and Athletics Director.
Growing up and spending much of his free time in the gym, Lord developed a passion for basketball and any other sport he could be around. As a high school and college athlete, Lord was given the opportunity to travel and play basketball in Russia, Czech Republic, Honduras, and more. Seeing and participating in sporting events around the world continued to grow his interests in the athletic world.
After graduate school, Lord was able to develop a career in the sports world. Starting as an Athletic Events and Operations manager at Cornell University and then moving into private sport facility management. Within sport facility management, Lord has led start-ups, Non-Profits, and for-profit facilities for more than 10 years. Lord also consults with several private schools and athletic facilities in the Greater Philadelphia area.
In his free time Lord enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and exploring new foods and restaurants.
