My favorite sports event/memory/moment is... watching our 2019 Madison Field Hockey team come from a 2-0 deficit to beat the top seated team and advance to the State Sectional final, and having the opportunity to play DIII field hockey.
Sarah Pasternak comes to Centercourt with 13 years playing experience, and 6 years coaching Youth and Elite programs in both Philadelphia and New Jersey. She is currently an Assistant Field Hockey Coach at Madison High School, and teaches at their cross-town rival in Chatham. She enjoys coaching the MHS goalies and JV field players, while watching them grow on and off the field.
Prior to Madison, Coach Pasternak was a 4 year starter in goal at Immaculata University. She helped the Mighty Macs reach the Colonial States Athletic Conference Semi-Finals in 3 seasons. Coach Pasternak was named to the Honorable-Mention All-CSAC team in 2013 and 2016, and Second-Team All-CSAC in 2014. Academically, she was named to the Fall CSAC All-Academic and NFHCA National Academic teams, and was 3 years listed as an NFHCA Collegiate Scholar of Distinction. In 2017, she was nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year by IU. Coach Pasternak graduated with a certification in English and Secondary Education and a minor in Communications.
Coach Pasternak is a West Essex Regional graduate, where she played four years for the field hockey program. She switched from offense to goaltending in 2009, inspired by growing up watching her dad play as a street hockey goalie.
