My favorite sports memory/moment/event is…..It was winning a local national ranked tournament that I played in Pakistan as an Under 16 Boys/Girls Coed championship. I started playing when I was just 8 years old and have the same passion for it today. My Coach was an Ex Davis Cup player who helped me become a great player and a coach that I am today. I moved around a lot with my family and was exposed to tennis in different cultures and regions around the world. A part of my upbringing was in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where I played tennis for Greenfield Community School. This was also the first time I was exposed to International players and meeting them felt life changing. This is where my love for tennis kept growing and made me want to become a better player for myself.

Coach Shoaib is currently a student at Montclair State University, studying international business. Shoaib plays USTA and is rated a 4.5 player. Last year he won a discovery open cup at Maywood Tennis which led to qualifying for the End of year NTRP National Ranking Tournament where he lost in the quarterfinals. Moving to the States was a big change for Shoaib as tennis wasn’t the biggest sport, however, the drastic rise in US players in the last few years has been an eye-opener. He is humbled and hopes that he would be glad to say in the coming years that he coached one of them.

Shoaib has been coaching for two years. as well.  His coaching philosophy is that tennis is fun, and tennis requires a lot of work.   Dedication, hard work and most importantly playing tennis because you love tennis is what will take us to the next level.
