My favorite sports event/memory/moment is ... being a member of the 1984 Guilford College lacrosse team when we beat nationally ranked Duke University at Duke, 13-9.
Pete has been fortunate to be coached by four National Hall of Fame coaches throughout his playing career: Joe Cuozzo, Bill Martens (Ward Melville High School), Rick Mercurio (Suffolk Community College), and Geoff Miller (Guilford College). He tries to bring a piece of what he learned from them to the field every day. Pete has been most influenced by his first coach, Bruce Betcher, who coached him in three sports in junior high school. What Pete learned from him: show up, be on time, be prepared, and give an effort at all times, on and off the field. Pete has coached at every level, including Southampton College when they won the ECAC championship. He has been involved in the Princeton Day School lacrosse program for 22 years, where he won Coach of the Year and a division championship in 1998. At Princeton Day School, Pete has coached students at all levels. He has also coached elite select teams for 17 years at both the middle school and varsity levels. I am proud to be part of the Centercourt staff.
