My favorite sports event/memory/moment is … watching our team execute, with perfection, a corner play against our rivals in the 2016 Central Jersey Group III Championship game. The team had practiced the corner 4 times the day before in practice and it went off without a hitch against a team we had consistently struggled to score on for years.
In high school, Coach Irwin was a 3 year varsity starter on defense and went on to play for Ursinus College. During that fall, the Ursinus Bears made an appearance in the 2011 Division III Final Four. The following spring she travelled with the team to Europe to practice and play against European club teams. Coach Irwin took a step back from field hockey and managed the team for the next three years, giving her a different perspective of the game which has influenced her coaching abilities.
Upon graduation, Irwin coached field hockey at Burlington Township High School for three years working mainly with freshman and new players. She currently works as an assistant coach at Monmouth Regional High School.
Kristen Irwin graduated from Ursinus College in 2015 where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Counseling in Educational Settings from Rowan University. She is currently employed at Monmouth Regional High School as a School Counselor.
