My favorite sports event/moment/memory is…playing soccer at Rowan University. Our senior year, we needed to win the final 5 games of our season to qualify for the NJAC Playoffs. We won four and then beat Montclair State who was ranked 9th in Division III soccer to make it to the NJAC finals.
Coach Mangone has extensive elite soccer coaching team experience at area soccer organizations where he has run several tournaments, camps, personal training, and clinics during his 8 years of coaching.
Coach Mangone prides himself on working on the mental aspect of the game in order to get the most out of his team; work hard, compete and play for each other. From a technical approach, Coach Mangone believes that development starts with the basics in dribbling, passing/receiving, shooting, defending, athleticism, decision making and movement off the ball. Tactically, Coach Mangone looks for a high percentage of possession, simple soccer, using the full width of the field, shooting at will, pressuring high, and defending low.
Mangone grew up in West Windsor, NJ where he was influential on teams that won 4 State Cups, 6 Indoor National Championships, and his team was ranked top 5 in the country for six years. His teams traveled to Florida, Las Vegas, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and several other states in order to play the best teams in the country. With that, his goal is to give players and their families the same opportunities that he had as a player. Creating friendships and experiences for both players and families that will last a lifetime with the drive to have players compete at the national level and eventually develop college level or professional players.
Coach Mangone’s passion for soccer goes a long way and in his free time he enjoys watching European club soccer with his wife, Nicole and dog, Scooby. Mangone loves seeing Americans playing in Europe—he wants to contribute to the growth of soccer in the U.S. and put Mercer County on the map for the development of US Youth Soccer players.
